Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema West IN Greater Accra and Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) Hon Irene Naa Toshie has assured the people of the Damongo Constituency that the construction of a befitting weekly Saturday market in the Damongo Municipality will be completed in time and handed over to them for to boost the economic activities for traders in the Savannah Region

Hon Naa Toshie made the comments on Saturday 5th February, 2022, during a short ceremony at Damongo to mark the beginning of the construction of the Damongo weekly Saturday Market.

She urged the women to cooperate with the contractor and assured them of benefiting from a market store each after the completion of the project.

Naa Toshie added that the construction of the market would go a long way to boost the economic activities in the area, especially for the traders in and around the Savannah Region.

Work is expected to commence according to the the administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) later this month.

She said a lot of developmental projects are in the pipeline for the people of the Damongo Constituency with Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor as the member of Parliament, describing the Damongo Constituency MP as very hardworking and developmental oriented.

The member of Parliament (MP) for the Damongo Constituency and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor who was in the company of Hon. Naa Toshie thanked her for coming all the way to his constituency to make sure a befitting weekly market is constructed.

The Damongo weekly Saturday market has been in the news over the years following the damage caused by erosion in the market.

The late chief of the market Kantara Abdulai before his demise has been an advocate in the media appealing for the construction of the market.

Meanwhile Hon.Toshie has disclosed that toilets for both males and females would be part of the market project.

She later made a cash donation of GHc10,000 to the leadership of the market women to support them.
